By Any Other Name

$6.00Price

By Any Other Name is a repeating design, meaning almost any size (and project) is possible. It is an intermediate/advanced level mosaic crochet pattern as it uses many diagonal stitches. There are image tutorials of these stitches in the pattern. The PDF pattern is written in U.S. terminology and includes the full written pattern in a row-by-row format, as well as the ticked graphs. The written format is in a new, easier to read format! For additional assistance, please see the "Guide to Overlay Mosaic Crochet" free PDF available in the free pattern section. In the PDF are some color combination ideas and basic size instructions for a baby blanket, full-sized throw, and a twin blanket. There is a beginner’s guide to overlay mosaic crochet included.

I chose to make mine with a 5mm hook and worsted weight (4 weight) yarn. I used Red Heart yarn in White (730 yards) and Polo Stripe (730 yards) for the body and Charcoal for the border.

Using different weighted yarns and hook sizes will result in a different dimension to your project. It is perfectly fine to work with what you are comfortable with; just know you may need to add more repeats (or remove some) to suit your needs. The final size of my piece (4 repeats wide, 4 repeats tall) is 32” wide x 28” tall. Each horizontal repeat will add approximately 8” in width and each vertical repeat will add 7” in length.

Estimated yardage for specific sizes:

Baby (32” x 42”): 1770 yards
Throw (48” x 63”): 4000 yards
Twin (56” x 91”): 5500 yards
